How is it made? Material and Features

Nowadays the quality and properties of the industrially made comb`s are determined by the molding tools and the combination of materials used for the production. Most of the newest combs are made from natural hard rubber or high quality thermoplastic.

The first material, the vulcanized natural hard rubber, is a very durable material and resistant to chemicals. The surface of the combs are very smooth. These combs are hand-made.

In this explanation can be seen how The Hercules Segemann comb is created using 100% hard rubber:

On the other hand, the thermoplastic is a high-quality, lightweight material that is heat resistant, and shatter resistant. The toughness and durability of thermoplastic parallels closely to the benefits of natural hard rubber. At the same time, it is much easier and cheaper to produce it industrially. That is why most of the not very expensive combs are made of this material.

Apart from this two materials, this tool is also made by other kind of plastics, wood and metals; always depending of exclusivity and tastes of the customer.
